Would be a good job for you Noddy? or does the beach hop take up too much time?

Was talking to our new leader in Methven and he said this position might be coming up. I guess its up to Daryl to explain to everyone what it entails. Pink 28, you out there?

The BH does take up a lot of time - but we are all just volunteers - no one, including me is paid. If I' m lucky, I'll get some costs reimbursed. It is totally non profit - unlike Kumeu, Muscle Car Madness and AmeriCARna. And that is an important point to remember - none of the organisers pockets get lined at the BH....

The job - dunno! I am unemployed - LOL.

You would be ideal for this role Noddy. Actually you're probably over-qualified.

I believe you can offer the hotrodding fraternity of NZ so much more by doing what you're already doing with Beach Hop and all the other exciting new projects you have lined up.

I disagree, that position would be far too restrictive for Noddy, they are looking for a puppet again, Noddy already fills an important role, just needs to make it pay.

Shouldn't it be a paid CEO that we are looking for? or would that usurp too much "power" .
I would have thought some direction and consultation with the current membership and feedback at the next round of zone meetings and the AGM would have been a priority .
We should stop saying hobby , pastime etc and start referring to hot rodding as a sport and start promoting that at all levels, so that we can all join in with the rest of NZ sporting bodies in this SPORTS mad country and receive some of the cash and benefits and exceptions which are regularly handed out .
NZHRA's rule book states that it is a member of the New Zealand Assembly for Sport which vigorously promotes the rights of all sporting groups.
It also says that NZHRA receives it's delegated authority to conduct and administer the sport from the FIA through Motorsport New Zealand...
if that isn't enough clout I am dammed if I know what is.

I dunno, calling Hot Rodding a sport it kinda stretching things (but hey, if we can get an advantage by doing so I'm all for it!) as most sports have an element of competitiveness in them.

But anything we can do to benefit our hobby and UNITE all modified car owners has to be a step in the right direction. (IMHO)

Yeah hot rodding isn't really a sport its a hobby but it is competitive as everyone tries to make there car look :cool:er than Jimmy Johnsons etc

figure skating, or synchonised drowning. And the latter is an 'olympic sport" so get handouts to buy those clothespegs for their noses :)

Actually, somebody on here recently said drifting was syncronised swimming for cars :D

Yet I heard that Drifting just got a handout from the money Motorsport NZ received to promote motorsport ?????

Bay Rodders should be able to get some to further the Nostalgia Drags.

SPARC recognises certain sporting organisations in New Zealand, which makes them eligible for grants and assistance.
http://www.sparc.org.nz/partners-and-programmes/national-sporting-organisations/recognition
Among them is

korfball ? billiards, gliding ,Bobsleigh and Skeleton ,darts, NZ Flying Disc??? , sheep dog trials, rodeo cowboys, deaf sports, paragliding , blind sports and Flying (Royal New Zealand Aero club)
.
Motorsports organistions include.
Kartsport, Motorcycling NZ,Motorsport NZ, powerboat , waterski, offroad and speedway.
In fact the only ones I don't see there are Hot Rodding and Drag racing...I wonder???

but if you look at the motorsport pages on Xtra, Fairfax, NZ Herald et al, theres bugger all mention of drag racing and no mention of hot rodding at all.

For good reason...nobody can be bothered giving the information to the journalists, they won't ask three times.

So do the other types of Motorsport fit under Motorsport NZ , but they have their own listings, I should point out that it is the organisation not just a category that is listed.
Remember this is a listing of "partners in sport" with SPARC, the primary distributor of sports funding for the New Zealand Government.

so Motorsport is listed like this

Motorsport NZ
PO Box 3793, Wellington 6001
Phone: (04) 801-9559
Fax: (04) 801-8558
Email: admin@motorsport.org.nz
Website: http://www.motorsport.org.nz (http://www.motorsport.org.nz/)

Kartsport like this

Kartsport New Zealand
PO Box 28219, Remuera, Auckland
Phone: 09-5204317
Fax: 09-5204318
Email: admin@kartsport.org.nz
Website: http://www.kartsport.org.nz (http://www.kartsport.org.nz/)

NZHRA like this

I wonder?
If sitting in an airplane is eligible then surely Building and using a Hot Rod is eligible as a sport.
